Riding the rails of Central and Eastern Europe.

As you have most likely gathered from the content of my website, I am a big train fan. Whether it be simply travelling by train, actively seeking out heritage lines to visit, or writing about my train experiences. Rather than opting for a Danube river cruise, I developed the idea of seeing that part of Europe by train. Then, as usually happens, I got carried away with adding many other scenic train destinations.
So, if you are looking to an alternative way to see the Danube down to Budapest, followed by Austria and Switzerland, then this e-book if for you. This work is by no means a travel guide to the cities being visited. It is an itinerary plan.
Train travel in Europe is a way of life. Clean, fast, and frequent trains ferry passengers between major cities and the smallest of villages. Train stations are, for the most part, located in the center of town, with convenient hotels close by. Train reservations are predominantly made on-line with electronic ticketing. I have found that making a reservation directly with the carrier often yields better pricing. In this e-book I do give example fares which were valid at the time of writing (revised February 2022). I select hotels based on proximity to the train station. Long trips require a greater amount of luggage!
Here are examples of the 55 pages in this e-book, supplied as a PDF file.
